Hopfolk

Summary

The hopfolk, often called hops by non-hopfolk races, are the informal name for the fabric-like sentient fluffy race native to Karrots.

They are physically distinct by their rounded heads, featuring a face ending in a pointed nose, flanked by whiskers. Their bodies have two upper limbs (the arms) flanking the neck at the torso, a bare chest that widens to the hips. The lower torso terminates in a small, round tail on the rear and a pair of legs, opposing the arms. Each limb is rounded, featureless on the surface and possesses no extremities such as nails or claws. They feature color variations across the body, where the eyes of the face, nose, whiskers, mouth or tail could be any variety of colors. Common colors are pink, white, brown and grey. Uncommon and rarer colors are green, orange, ultraviolet and black.

History

The Sole Race on Karrots

Hopfolk did not have a word in their own languages, such as Hopspeak, for themselves throughout pre-space-faring history, as they were the only beings they have ever encountered.

From Karrots to Space-Faring

Nomenclature

Their name derives from Hop, creator of Hoppism, who superseded his father Sop following his ascension.

Formally, races native to Karrots are considered Karrotonians, however hopfolk are the only race of beings on Karrots that are life, not including plants. In Sop's time, all hopfolk referred to themselves as Karrotonians to beings from other places, who mistakenly assumed that it was the title of their fluffy race rather than the title of their nationality.
