Ghyp Planetary System

Summary

Ghyp is a planet in the Apollyon solar system. This planet is one light-hour away from its star. The star is a blue solar entity and is very small in size. Due to this the star's gravity pulls lightly on the planet. It has a very wide oblong orbit around the star. It was the site of a battle during The Endless War for The Eternal Throne. A station was built by The Infinite Empire.

 Atmosphere

Exosphere

A thin ring of ice and small rocks exist a light-second above the upper layer of the atmosphere. It is not visible until crossing the gravity well without advanced sensors. Debris from the battle now rotates around the ring, making it appear artificially larger.

Troposphere

The upper layer is thin, mostly composed of mostly carbon dioxide, nitrogen and argon. The lower layer near the surface is mostly oxygen, some traces of argon and carbon dioxide. The Hops found this planet's air and gravity suitable for most beings, however the lack of light makes it difficult to see and hard to grow foof, such as carrots.

Terrain

The crust of the planet is mostly liquid H²O, with some islands composed of granite, limestone and softer soil scattered about. The ocean of the planet sinks very deep beneath the surface, forming hidden bodies of water underneath its continents.

Mantle & Core

The planet does not give off its own heat. With no evidence for magnetic poles along the world's axis, its reasonable to assume the core is dormant or solid. The mantle, barely covered by the surface of the world, is mostly granite and limestone. It's continents appear to have been weakened and are cracking internally, causing quaking and whirlpools along the oceans, sometimes lowering the water level of landlocked bodies of water as water pours into the inner layer of the planet.

Natashii Station

Immediately after Sop & Hop pulled out from the first battle of the war, multiple Imperial transport-class carriers made faster-than-light jumps to the nearest celestial body, which appeared to be Apollyon, however they must have noticed Ghyp nearby. The uninhabited terrestrial planet would suit their short term war strategy.

This station, built as a fortified bunker along the surface, acted as a way-point into the Hoppist side of the Universe, past The Infinite Graveyard of Giants. Named after a member of the Empire's leadership died at the first battle of the Graveyard, the station was built to give leverage to the Empire without retreating back to their side of the Graveyard.
