Summary

Bih N'Ny was a Planetary system during the First Great Hop Expansion, discovered and destroyed by Sop. The world was the site of a interplanetary war that prevented the hops from discovering the greater universe and was the first instance of Sop's full might in a battle, being depicted on the Temple of Sop on Karrots. The debris of the world was eradicated by its star and New Bih N'ny was constructed in its place long after.

It's spatial location is classified, as the constructed false-planet known as New Bih N'ny was built here and is protected by Hop and the Grand Sop Army's high intelligence divisions.

History

Discovery

Sop was leading the early scouting adventures of the First Great Hop Expansion, when his fleet was attacked in sub-light speed travel as it charted the newfound area. The planetary system was quickly recorded and attention was focused on hardening defenses against the attackers when they suddenly stopped and fled. Intrigued and infuriated, Sop and his fleet command sent numerous attack vessels after the fleeing force, leading to a space station, where all company landed. Just as sudden as they landed, the station exploded, proving it was a deception to entrap and destroy the pursuers.

Becoming increasingly angry, Sop withheld direct action, and ordered a passive deployment to all 3 worlds in the star system. Of which, there were 3: the original Bih N'ny and two moons that orbited it. Shortly, Sop's forces found that there were two factions composed of members of the same race, with both warring on Bih N'ny itself, using the moons as headquarters.

The sight of the approaching capital ships directly above their bases instilled great fear into both factions, who had asked for this new third party to reveal themselves. The commanders found that all members of both factions spoke in a regional dialect similar to K'Ursan-Hopspeak, meaning an ally of Sop's had once visited this system before. Upon this discovery, Sop became the sole translator and representative of the hops to these people.

With intent to amend the first impressions with the factions, Sop visited the larger moon and formally introduced himself and his people. Once acquainted, Sop suggested to each faction that they peacefully meet their enemy in his presence, as he had more to offer both sides as his allies than they had to gain from continuing their war. Delighted, the people were left with a positive impression. To further this relationship, Sop's forces gifted supplies from one of the divisions.

The force on the smaller moon was nearly identical to Sop, but they demanded reparations as soon as they sign the treaty, as they were struck first by their enemy, and were the smaller force. They also expressed they were protecting the Bih N'ny's resources for religious reasons, rather than to hoard the elements, unlike the opposing force.

Sop, withholding his previous anger, and eager to continue charting nearby star systems, promised they would discuss all concerns as soon as the parley was established, and ushered them to meet peacefully. The largest planet in the system, and the source of the conflict, Bih N'ny was chosen for the neutral parley grounds, at the northern magnetic pole.

Violence Leads to Destruction

After meeting both factions in the war, the primary world in the conflict was the resource-rich world Bih N'ny was selected. Sop invited both factions to the planet to sign a treaty, allowing his forces to pass without further engagement. At the pole, both factions assumed the other side was manipulating Sop to ally with them. Thus they both turned on Sop and a three-way battle ensued. The entire world became a blazing battleground instantly. As the brutal conflict continued, all forces suffered numerous vehicle and critical losses, as well as intense damage to the planet's surface. Forcing Sop to order a hasty retreat of his forces, he stayed on world to do battle with the powerful leaders of both sides. The Grand Sop Army fled to the planet's neighbor, inhabited by civilians and remnant armed forced of one of the factions.

Quickly as he arrived, Sop showed his true might given that his own forces weren't at risk. Leaping into the sky, he held his arms out and lifted his head, absorbing the solar energy from the great star above. As he did this, the vehicles of the armies took aim at him and opened fire. As they shot all their munitions, those near Sop stared into the sky, seeing a light glow past the smoke and debris. From faint to bright, it grew rapidly in size and suddenly "clung" to Sop's body. His glowing figure caught the attention of all nearby forces, even beings from the horizon and the retreating GSA ships were in awe of the light that outshine the system's own star.

This display of energy control was scoffed at by one of leaders of the factions. Unimpressed, he charged at Sop, lost in the fury of battle. As he approached Sop, he was blown back by the raw presence of Sop's energy. As Sop touched ground and stared down the armies, they began to tremble, while the leader that attacked stood up and reengaged. Running into Sop and attempting to tackle him, Sop stood firm, showing no effort in resisting him. The menace pushed harder, causing the ground to crack across the planet. Pushing harder, he slips off and Sop catches his arm and holds him in the air, staring at those around him. Wanting to settle the disputes, Sop offers a final chance to have the issue resolved. Both armies took aim and each other and him.

Sop's Reflection & Decision

Disappointed in their decision, Sop claims upon reflection, he is astonished their bravery in the face of his strength persisted. However, in the moment, his irritation suddenly manifested in a gargantuan explosion that sent the entire planet into countless pieces, flying away from each other at lightspeed. The factions and their forces were never recovered, as Sop noted the events and regrouped with his forces. Now that the only useful world of the system was shattered into oblivion. Sop and company moved onto chart further reaches of space.

Upon returning from one of the voyages, Sop felt the remaining natives would continue to split into factions and war with each other over and over. An invasion of the entire system was ordered to round up and detain all members of the entire system.

Renaming the Planet, A New Bih N'ny

During the Second Great Hop Expansion, Hop decided to entirely forgive the past actions of the natives of the system due to a vision. Since the end of Sop's encounter of the natives, the remaining members of the other worlds had been held in several internment camps. Hop had his leadership of the GSA grant the natives and their newly constructed planet a treaty that ensured it would never be visited by outsiders again. By order of Hop and his sister, no Hoppist or ally would be allowed within 1 light-year (years on Bih N'ny) without receiving an invitation from the native people.

Hop speculates the resources on the original Bih N'ny were actually a myth to begin the war, as the factions greatly despised each other until the Grand Sop Army had taken them into custody. The new world spins twice as it goes around its star. A satellite array exists to power the world with solar energy. A false atmosphere was placed, mostly of nitrogen and hydrogen. to prevent metal constructs from rusting.

Hop has visited on planned occasions to assist the inhabitants with sudden phenomena, such as machines becoming self-aware and trying to war against the residents. The planet has a standing technology ban, excluding weapons and operated vehicles.

Over time, they became docile and domesticated, and had agreed to integrate into society under the K'Ursan Federation. This race is now know as Otu Vinska Lins, or "The Spared Forsaken" in Hopspeak.

Bih N'ny

Atmosphere

This information was not accurately captured due to being destroyed shortly after discovery. Records of this world are lost to time.

Sop described the planet's atmosphere as "bare and lacking air" of any kind. There were no clouds on the day it was first visited and destroyed, nor humidity he could sense, making him question what resources the planet's waring factions were actually after.

Terrain

This information was not accurately captured due to being destroyed shortly after discovery. Records of this world are lost to time.

The part of the planet observed from space and by Sop and his forces was solid brown rock, mostly flat and firm. Natives claimed that there were valuable metals and crystals that would be used for their starships and military technology. All discovered weapons were melted down and found to be of crude, low-quality alloys.

Rotation & Revolution

This information was not accurately captured due to being destroyed shortly after discovery. Records of this world are lost to time.

The planet did not complete a full rotation during the battle. When Hop created New Bih N'ny, he asked prisoners in internment to describe its rotation, but most claimed it only spun twice going around its star. This information was mostly new to the prisoners, as they also did not discover much about the world (outsides its rich elements) before all-out war started.

Relation to Hoppism

Sop told the story of this world's fate to his children and those he mentored, as a warning to being eager to fight when angered, instead of considering the benefits of handling a situation rationally. This was further detailed by carvings in Karrot's Temple of Sop.

Hop's personal interpretation serves a secondary lesson, to uphold the truth, maintain your duty as a leader by not forcing others to serve a fallacious cause, dooming their fates because of one's own desire.

Many GSA veterans use this story as justification for the common practice of avoiding combat until provoked by another force, even if they were previously hostile. This is most important if the one to make this decision possesses significantly more power than the other force(s).
