Summary

A Hoppist custom is to wear ribbons along the neck and leg wraps around the ankles. Exceptions can be made for those who perform great deeds in the name of Hoppism. Prayer and knowledge are not enough, even with training and contribution to the universe, Hoppists aren't immune to this rule. However, upon finding a particular ore, and smelting it within a star that is experiencing the friction of a black hole, a metal can be made that replaces this need. Named Athylin (uh-thil-in), it is so special and strong that only Gop could have made it.

Anything made of Athylin can be unmade back into a malleable state, making it recyclable. Unique properties of this material have been tested to all possible means. It is not magnetic, it does not conduct electricity. Heat & fire tempers it, but doesn't melt it. Cold doesn't make it brittle, it hardens it. Acids heal over it, through unknown means, forming a molecular seal to the atomic particle level. Only destroyed by itself, when vibrating at high frequencies, fast enough to tear the atomic bond apart. Hop himself was able to fold and bend a slab it with his own paws, but only when giving it even force on both sides. This was attempted by cranes, to no success. The grip and size of these cranes is used for recovering star ship wreckage, capable of tugging capital ships out of orbit (gravitational pull similar to Karrots).

Hop personally forges and crafts all items made of it by paw. Only Hoppist artifacts, armor and weapons are the only allowed items to be made. Ships, housing, crafting materials and tools are not to be made with it, due to the rarity and difficult nature of the element. Rare exceptions are to be asked to Hop, who will consult with his family and vote on the matter.

History

Found by Hop when he was young, and forced into a form that can be melted down. He began making weapons and armor for the highest ranking Knights of Sop under his command. On rarer occasions, vehicles and decorative substances were made out of this element too, when enough supply was made.

For countless periods, the prominence of the element grew as the Great Hop Expansions occurred, but not in times of war, due to travel restrictions and exploration withdrawal. Hop has outlawed the trade of this element. All ores and refined versions must be submitted to the Royal Hop Castle on Karrots, or to a Knight of Sop at a Temple. If unavailable, arrangements can be made to pick up the element via Electric Eye Emergency Delivery services.

Qualities & Fun Facts

  • This ore is found in far out space debris, such as asteroids and craters in celestial bodies pelted by meteorites. It is rarely found on planets without atmosphere and soft crust, usually on the surface due to a recent meteor shower.
  • Hop could not melt it with his glare or stars, even by rubbing it against itself at violently high speeds, fast enough to create quakes on Karrots. It had to be dragged into a black hole, as it absorbed it a supermassive star, right as its core was shredded apart. The high friction softened the metal via extreme heat and gravity. Once that has severed its connection, making it usable enough to be formed into any shape.
  • While melted, it keeps a liquid-like form until cooled at absolute zero in a vacuum. Regardless of temperature. Which is strange but easily done with Hop technology.
  • Normally black, the metal-like element is also seen in a bright color like silver, or dark grey. Hop once found one that was a pale beige and made a custom sword out of it. That sword was given to Arritz the Hero once he was freed from a different, yet enchanted, sword. He wielded it into battle many times.
  • A custom Star Wing was made for Hop entirely out of this element, save for the navigation, weapon and propulsion systems.
