Spearhammer of Iscoggosa

From Hoppism Wiki

Summary

This is a legendary weapon that Hop claimed from a battle with a power deity during the Second Great Hop Expansion. On the planet of Iscoggosa, a formerly uninhabited world, there was a growing source of power that could be sensed with gravity sensors located nearby. This kind of spatial activity was later found to be cause of the weapon, as gravity increases are uncommon unless a black hole forms. Events such as black holes are monitored by the Grand Sop Army, but handled directly by Hop. When discovered, the weapon was laying on the surface of the world, slowly being buried by debris, as its gravitational pull was constantly fighting the planet it was on. Upon lifting the weapon, Hop felt its pull cease and shift ahead of him. A powerful being that was trying to bond with the weapon had been forced out unknowingly and began to fight Hop. Once defeated, Hop decided it would be best to test the weapon rather than bring it to Karrots, as safety dictated.

Extensive testing occurred and once Hop felt confident the weapon itself does not cause powerful entities to spawn from it, he escorted it home and it sits in his storage room.

Features

It has an enchantment of invulnerability to all forms, physical and metaphysical. Hop has not personally tested its full extent, as he would need a near-infinite expanse of space to unleash such a destructive force that could cause great calamity. Instead, Hop asks all wielders to refer to it as invincible as no one other than Hop could possibly cause it harm. Its length is twice that of Hop, and a uniform straight cylinder terminating in two other shapes: a spearhead/arrowhead and a blunt, rounded prism in the shape of a hammerhead.

There are several special qualities of the weapon. If thrown or impaled with the pointed end, it will embed a metaphysical indicator on the surface of solid matter. It can do this a limitless number of times. The blunt end lacks this function, as does the polearm part of the weapon. To activate the effect of the indicator, the hammer end must make fast and violent contact with any physical matter. Shaking the weapon briskly in one direction and then the opposite will not trigger this effect. The surface of the blunt end must touch something physical at speed. Gently placing the weapon or tapping it will not activate the indicators. Once active, the indicators summon an explosive blast that will fracture where they were imbedded, in rapid succession, rather than all at once. The blunt end can also create fractures if slammed into a surface when no spearhead indicators have landed. The weapon appears to have no way to tell and relies on the user to make clear their actions. Indicators can be safely removed from a surface if rubbed gently with the hammer end of the weapon for several moments, as if it were an eraser tool.

The spearhammer weighs roughly several times an object made of iron with the same dimensions would weigh. This makes it relatively light to certain beings, while extremely heavy to others, depending on the gravity of the planet it is on. For this reason, it is advised not to be brought on vessels using repulson technology, as it may unbalance it and cause stress to the lifters. This would not effect vehicles that use spatial/aerial-grade propulsion or terrain-traction technology (such as wheels and treads) from functioning, however.

Uses and Handling

The benefits and use cases of the spearhammer are rare instances where a powerful being which the ability to regenerate must be destroyed all at once. In Hop's absence, several ranking Knights of Sop have used this weapon to fell powerful entities. Due to the potential damage it can cause, Hop constructed a sheath for it, programmed with a repulson system and a magnetic ribbon which is tied around the ends of the weapon. Controlled remotely, it can be summoned to seal the weapon safely when not in active use.

As it does not bend, it can be used as a supporting pole or a wedge in cases where standard tools and structures would fail. Hop can supply the item upon request for such uses. The sheath of the spear end must remain on for non-combat applications, by order of Hop.

Theft of the weapon or any intentional misuse will result in revocation of the privilege of future use, until granted again. Further, punishments performed with the weapon are considered cruel torture, and must only be used as a weapon with entities that pose a large scale, enduring threat to the universe.
