Hop's Room

From Hoppism Wiki

History

After being baptized, Hop was given the choice to live with his family or by hopself. Naturally, Hop did not care either way due to his age and lack of bonding with his parents, so his father decided to have him live in a detached segment underground on Karrots with an above ground tower for windows. Hop minorly expanded this space once became talented at burrowing and upgraded his room. Once only filled with essentials, now was decorated with many great trophies and projects. Engineering was one of Hop's earliest passions, after getting his first spaceship with his father from Royal Ampbersamd. There were many scattered used ship parts, and collected items from the battlefield added over eons, but when it became overfilled, Hop opted to make a storage/trophy room far under the home of his family, where he'd eventually just expand a grand staircase filled with all kinds of display items.

Master Room

Hop's master room was a small area, featuring a traditional ceiling hammock to rest in, a few tools for DIY projects at home, and a workbench and lighting fixtures. Over his first years, he added presents given to him by planets he and his father visited, as well as artistic recreations of his father's life events. Eventually, adding a personal touch, Hop collected skulls from organic beings. Often times 3D printing in filled parts in cracks, or entirely remaking an object from scratch and moving the unaltered original into storage.

More modern additions such as lit tiles in the floor and walls were added, as new furniture was installed. An enclosed cushion provided Hop a solitary resting place like his hammock, but it was sound-dampened and away from light sources. Around this area was shelving and framed containing art and skeletons of things Hop killed, captured or found in his journeys.

A snack bar was made for Hop so he didn't have to leave his room as often. Heated rows of carrots and a cooler containing smaller, baby carrots and kale plants were among Hop's favorites. Chews were a common non-biological substitute for him to eat when he wanted a longer lasting taste. Hop's favorite flavor was a mix of ironmint and lavender's stem extract. These plants were grown in the tower above Hop's room.

Tower

As fighting became more common in Hop's life, a training dummy assembly line and a drone to reassemble broken dummies was added near Hop's hammock, to train in the early day before leaving home. Above this area was a hatch leading to the tower where Hop would climb into the separate room, constantly cooled and humidity controlled for Hop's plants bathing in sunlight.

Spacious and exposed to the outside world with a transparent dome, with a solar-dimming tarp, this space was for Hop to get solar-bleached originally, however that did not interest Hop. He added plants in pots instead. As opposed to a collection, this was a hobby Hop learned in order to have things to trade with other hops to obtain more things. The plants were often rotated depending on which star was giving sunlight in the sky at the time. Hop often traded his ripe plants for favors and items to add to his room. Sometimes Hop would move his training dummy up there. A lamp with goo inside rests in the ceiling hatch, lighting up the tower's plant room at night, and providing a colorful addition when Hop wished to train in a cooler environment.

Typically, nothing is displayed in this room. At one point however, Hop was given gifts he did not have time to appreciate or open, so a temporary storage unit was installed, covered in scrap metals by the hatch. Once full, Hop granted hopself eminent domain, and dug a long and deep tunnel into the ground, connecting to the tower's hatch. This tunnel lead to a storage room.

Storage, Trophy & Workshop Room

Made out of necessity, Hop utilized a new space for his gifts, projects and items he needed cleaned out of his master room and tower. Using a warehouse style, Hop implemented racks in a 360 degree rotation along the cylindrical wall and flooring. Technology from other races, machines Hop made for fun and gifts for his baptism anniversary are all on display. Treated like a personal museum, Hop arranged things neatly to show guests he has over. A tour takes nearly half a day, as the room is half a light-minute in size. .

Break-In

All other property or public space in use by hops in the way of Hop's tunnel and storage area were compensated and relocated via eminent domain, without being told what the space would become. This was eventually found out when two younger hops (using a military grade tool that Bop traded them for music) broke into the room while Hop was publicly out on a mission with his father on a distant world. An automated cleaning drone Hop made, rolled into the room for cleaning, and the younglings ran off, and the drone wandered out into the hole they made. It was not intelligent and hurriedly cleaned the break-in scene and signaled for help. Other drones swarmed the area to clean dust and dirt. Over time they became stuck and overworked, meaning they could not find their way back nor empty their reserves. Hop's sister and friends were notified (they were on-world) and went to check on the situation. After searching for a long time, they discovered the drones, depleted and full to bursting. One by one they were taken back and renewed.

The hole however, was investigated by Bop. Sensing guilt, he hurried to the younglings known residence and inquired if they lost the tool or traded it. They confessed their usage and curiosity, revealing they had images of the room and mapped their path in for half an orbit leading up to the break-in. Bop turned them in, as Hop arrived home, after getting word from his sister. Not upset, Hop asked if they'd like a tour and one free item from the trophy section. in exchange for showing how they broke in, and an apology. They also had to return the tool. Hop gave them undisclosed gifts after the tour and they were not charged with any breaking of Hoppist rules. Bop was punished for trading (and possession of) his military grade digging/cutting tool, as he was removed from service and was told to bring all uniform and equipment back to the Grand Sop Army Academy. No long term punishment was issued. Hop later used the new opening for the drones to charge if they were halfway into the storage room, instead of travelling all the way back up to the master room to charge.
